He was the pupil of Cozzolino, Massei and Gradenigo in Naples. He was one of the most notable figure of that period both in Italy and Europe. He headed up the ORL Hospital of the University of Catania.
He wrote for over 30 years on many Italian and international medical magazines and created many surgical instruments. Thanks to his strong personality, he was able to build a big Institute which served as example for the next generations.
